This time, his method of playing to win paid off when he went into a store and bought a Diamond Dazzler scratch-off ticket in the Detroit suburb of Southgate.

“The Diamond Dazzler game is my favorite, so I asked the clerk what number the ticket was. When she said ’21,’ I told her I wanted it. I scratched it off in the store, and when I saw it was a winner I looked at the clerk and then at my buddy who was with me and ran out to my car.” the young man commented after his win.

When he went to collect his prize at the state lottery offices in Lansing, he opted to take a one-time lump sum payment, which will roughly equate to $1.3 million. He says he’ll invest the money as much as possible but will also buy a new car.
