Sabah Lotto Exposed — Is It Possible to Buy Tickets Online?

Sabah Lotto Exposed

Sabah Lotto Review

Hello lottery fans from all parts of the world, today’s journey will be taking us to Malaysia. We’re about to learn about Sabah 88 – the organization responsible for lotteries in the country. We’ll also take a look at Sabah Lotto – one of the prominent Malaysian games. What is it? Can you play Sabah Lotto online? Hold your horses. We’re about to have all of these questions answered.

Sabah Lotto: Introduction

Sabah Lotto is one of the primary games in the portfolio of Sabah 88 – the official entity responsible for organizing and carrying out lotteries in Malaysia.

There’s no information about when Sabah Lotto was established. Ever since its inception, however, the game has been a massive success. Currently, there are two drawings per week – on Wednesday and Saturday.

How to Play Sabah Lotto?

Each Sabah Lotto entry will cost you RM 1 – a very small price to pay, especially when you consider the possible return.

In order to have a jackpot winning chance, you will have to choose 6 numbers from a pool of 45 and match them all. Every time, 6 main numbers and a bonus number will be drawn. The bonus number plays a role in determining some of the lower prize tiers, as well as the prizes for system bets.

Every single time, the prize pool will consist of 55 percent of the funds generated through ticket purchases. Sabah Lotto also comes with a minimum guaranteed jackpot of 500,000 RM per drawing.

Prizes and Odds

The minimum guaranteed jackpot of 500,000 RM will increase every single time there’s no winner for the respective drawing. This is how Sabah Lotto can lead to the accumulation of some pretty great prizes. The biggest jackpot in the history of the game was 2.32 million RM, which is approximately 0.6 million US dollars.

This massive jackpot fell on May 7, 2013. The previous biggest jackpot was drawn on July 19, 2009. At that time, one lucky individual claimed the spectacular top prize of 2.04 million RM.

The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 8,145,060.

Other than the jackpot, there are 6 additional prize tiers. The second prize goes to the individuals who match 5 main numbers and the bonus number. A smaller jackpot amount (it’s called a jackpot in Malaysia but in reality, it’s a second prize tier) will be paid out. The amount will depend on the number of tickets bought for the respective drawing and the number of winners.

People who match 5 numbers will win 1,400 RM. Matching 4 numbers and the bonus number will lead to a prize of 250 RM. The smallest Sabah Lotto prize is handed to those who get 3 numbers correct and the amount will be 2 RM (the equivalent of 2 new lottery tickets – not bad at all!).

On occasions, there could be special Malaysia Sabah Lotto drawings. These special drawings will be announced in advance and they can be expected to have more attractive conditions than the regular ones.

Can You Play Sabah Lotto Online?

If you are in a foreign country, you’re probably wondering whether you can play Sabah Lotto online. Unfortunately, the answer to this question is negative for the time being. You have to be in the territory of Malaysia for the purpose of acquiring your ticket. Online lottery agents currently don’t carry an option allowing international players to buy Sabah Lotto tickets online.

Some Information for Sabah Lotto Winners

Unfortunately, there aren’t that much information winners can rely on when picking up their prizes. The payment conditions, terms, and deadlines will probably have to be acquired personally over the phone. Sorry that we couldn’t be as helpful as we usually are but the information is scarce!

The only thing we’ve managed to dig up is the fact that a 15 percent income tax does apply to lottery prizes in Malaysia.

While you can’t play Sabah Lotto online and you need to be in Malaysia for the purpose of getting your ticket, the game is still a legitimate opportunity to win some cash. There are several characteristics that we really like about this lotto and here they are:

Why You Should Play Sabah Lotto

Pros:

An official game that is organized by a national entity

There are 3 drawings per week

The prize of a ticket is negligible

There is a minimum guaranteed jackpot

If there is no winner for the respective drawing, the jackpot will roll over toward the next one

Other than the jackpot, there are 6 additional prize tiers

The game has a straightforward format and the odds of winning are good

These are the things we like about Lotto. Now here are the things that we don’t dig so much:

Why You Shouldn’t Play Sabah Lotto

Cons:

It’s not possible to buy Sabah Lotto tickets online

The minimum guaranteed jackpot is small in comparison to other international lotteries

Lower prize tiers aren’t too impressive

There is an income tax

It’s very difficult to find official information about certain aspects of the game (for example, about claiming a lottery prize – the official website isn’t populated very well)

Is Sabah Lotto Legit?

Any time a less-known lottery is being examined, people ask one and the same question – is it a scam? Can I lose money by giving it a try? The answers to both of these questions are not as far as Sabah Lotto is concerned.

Sabah Lotto is completely legitimate and the operations are regulated nationally. The game is one of the entries in the portfolio of Lotteries Corporation, more commonly known as Sabah 88. The organization was set up in 1988 for the sole purpose of organizing lotteries.

Through the years, Sabah 88 has added new games to its portfolio because of popular demand. Today, people in Malaysia can choose between Lotto, 3D, and 4D. All are legitimate, and all provide excellent options for winning some cash.

If you’re ever in Malaysia or you’re a resident of the country, Lotto is definitely worth checking out. While the jackpots aren’t that spectacular, the cost of the ticket definitely justifies such an attempt.
